sardinian beach

[Northern Coast of Sardinia - Thanks to Sardinia Tour free blog]

Here a guide to learn the most important factors to know before visiting Sardinia.

Sardinia is the 2° biggest island in the Mediterranean sea (after Sicily). It’s found in the central Italy near French and Spanish coasts.

From Catalan influences to Celtic landscapes, the Mediterranean island of Sardinia is a cauldron of charming peculiarities. See prehistoric landmarks and sail into hidden coves. By summer, the Costa Smeralda attracts glamorous yachter crowds, by winter Fonni fills with skiers.

alghero

Seaside - Meet the locals at Turas, one of the wildest beaches of the island, and marvel at Catalan architecture in Alghero. Relax with a book in peaceful spots like La Pelosa beach or glam it up and sip cocktails at a snooty beach club on the Costa Smeralda. Revel in clean turquoise waters and long white sandy beaches on the peaceful Costa Rei and Costa Verde.

Sardinia offers many different sports and outdoor activities from which to choose. Here are some possibilities for tourists:

Mountain biking:  where Mountain biking is what the name promised: Biking through the mountains. Crossing narrow single trails, rough gravel tracks and steep climbs.  It`s worth the effort, because of the view on unspool nature, bizarre rocks, turtles wayside – and the ocean. All this you find in Sardinia.

Hiking: There are many different wilderness areas which are prime for either full day hikes or even short walks. The mountains here are not tough to climb, and they are clean and peaceful. Hiking and walking are two of the best ways to see Sardinia up close.

Top Attractions to Visit:

  • Cagliari – Region, UNESCO World Heritage Site
  • Barumini/ Su Nuraxi, Resort or relaxation spot
  • Costa Verde,  Cruises - sightseeing by boat
  • La Maddalena,  Village reconstruction, open-air museum
  • Monastir

Costa Smeralda - Sardinia’s main tourist base is the gorgeous north-eastern stretch of coastline, known as the Costa Smeralda. There are some beautiful beaches and coves here and the water is crystal clear and great for diving. The Costa Smeralda is also visited by many private yachts as this part of the island contains the highest concentration of marinas on earth. Home to the Costa Smeralda Yacht Club, Porto Cervo is the main port, which is resplendent with fine yachts.

In the Sulcis Region:

Monte Linas-Oridda-Marganai Regional Park — natural wonders of the Sardinian wilderness with geological attractions such as grottoes and waterfalls. The remnants of abandoned mines have been restored into shows as well.

Castle of Gioiosa Guardia — standing guard over the land on the top of Monte Domo, it used to guard the access to the mining areas and one of its owners, the Count Ugolino della Gherardesca was mentioned in Dante’s.

Monte Sirai — this area shows signs of settlement in the Neolithic period, and a Phoenician town has been excavated here.

Here You are another interesting article I've found:

Italy is one of the best places where bike, but not every destination is good if you think to bike with your children.

Below some tips to organize your travel and find the best regions.

Travelling with your bike it's fun, easy, convenient and environmentally-friendly.

The greatest benefit in family biking is quality time.

Some things to take care:

    * Adults generally have a better understanding of traffic.
    * Children are generally much quicker at picking up the bike handling skills.
    * The key here is instilling a respect for the complexity and potential danger of traffic without instilling fear.
    * A child's ability to judge speed and distance is generally much less developed than that of an adult.
    * Other key challenges for children include more limited peripheral vision and a longer time required for focusing their eyes on an object.
